Darren Alridge says the love of the people who helped him get his GED diploma--from the judge who offered adult education classes as an alternative to prison to the teachers and tutors who helped him prepare--"wore" off on him so much that he had to pay it forward by mentoring struggling youth in alternative schools and teaching in the same program where he learned.
